Michigan Technical University Lifeguards Honored

Three lifeguards who saved the life of a pool patron at the Michigan Techinical University last summer have been recognized by the American Red Cross. 6News reports Leah Komarzec from Painesdale, Skyler Spitzley, from Ovid and Brett Ceane from Houghton, called on their American Red Cross training in First Aid, CPR and AED use by pulling a swimmer in cardiac distress from the university pool. After calling 911, the three employed their training attending to the swimmer until campus emergency management services arrived. The trio will receive Red Cross Lifesaving Award for Professional Responders in a ceremony next Tuesday at 3:30 at the University Pool.
