At the most recent meeting of the Gogebic County Chapter of the Michigan Township Association, new officers were elected. TheDailyGlobe reports the new chair of the committee is Larry Grimsby, Jeffery Randall was chosen as vice-chairman, Betty Perkis is the new secretary, and Maria Graser was re-elected as treasurer. Grimsby and Perkis are from Erwin Township. Randall is from Bessemer and Graser is from Ironwood. Other townships in the MTA are Wakefield, Marenisco and Watersmeet. The MTA represents a total of 1,240 townships in the upper and lower peninsulas, and offers advice and training and promotes legislation and policies that benefit township interests. It also encourages townships to work to recognize and celebrate the unique virtues of township government.
