Ironwood voters will go to the polls on May 2nd, and one of the items on the balled is a $16 million bond that would fund safety refurbishment of the Luther K. Wright school building. WXPR reports the money would fund infrastructure improvements, a new science lab, larger classrooms and an early education center on property adjacent to the school. The bond proposal renews two existing bonds with a slight increase. Taxpayers would see their tax rate increase by $1.45 per thousand dollars of taxable value. Community meeting will be held regarding the bond issue and meeting times can be found on the Ironwood Area Schools Facebook page and an explanation of how the money would be used can be found at ironwoodschools.org.
