Bessemer City Council Makes Plans for Next Round of Infrastructure Improvements

At their meeting on Monday night, the Bessemer City Council addressed additional work to city infrastructure now that completion of a utility project is close. TheDailyGlobe reports the council voted to approve three resolutions for projects presented by C2AE engineering and also authorized the company to apply for grants to provide the funding. The projects include replacing lead water pipes and water mains, as well as replacing the Bluff Reservoir and improving the Tilden water tank, and work on the water treatment plant. C2AE project manager, Darren Pionk says getting funding will depend on submitting grants to cover the estimated $16 million dollar cost of the work. Pionk also said that bonding could be another option.
