Enbridge Energy Line Five Relocation Project Advances…
The segment of Enbridge Energy’s Line 5 that is due to be moved is coming closer to being rerouted. According to the DailyGlobe, the permitting process is moving forward. The line is due to moved away from the Bad River Tribe of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians at the request of the tribe, which resides in Ashland. Although Line 5 has operated safely as it exists across 12 miles of the Bad River Reservation, the the tribe sued in 2019 to have the pipeline moved. Construction labor agreements have been signed, and its estimated that the move will provide 700 union jobs, and roughly $46 million will be spent with native owned businesses and in training native workers, who will make up at least 10% of the work force.
