Bessemer Has A Deer Problem…
An increasing deer population and the kindness of residents has made for a problem in Bessemer. TheDailyGlobe reports Councilperson Linda Nelson opened the discussion at the meeting and said she had seen 15 deer crossing the road in front of her on her way to work this past Monday. Although the city has an ordinance prohibiting feeding deer, many residents still do, which attracts the animals in larger numbers. Some warning letters have been issued and citations that come with fines could be issued, but the council agreed they didn’t want to take that route. In the end council voted to request a permit from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for a doe hunt.
