Ashland Getting Closer to Starting Work on Improvement Project

The city of Ashland is moving towards a project that will expand campgrounds and improve local parks in the area. The city expects work on the $2 million project to begin sometime next year. The AshlandDailyPress reports that with inflation, the cost of the project has gone up, with the city budgeting $650,000 and a grant of $250,000 from a Department of Natural Resources grant and the rest coming from city funds. Improvements to Kreher Park, the boat launch, Prentice Park and a section of the Ashland Rails to Trails system are slated to take place. The city will also be applying for additional grants to fund the various phases of the project. As plans move forward, Ashland will continue to encourage feedback from the community on final designs.
