Ousted Ashland Jail Administrator Files Grievance
Lt. Kim Lavasseur has filed a grievance against the county after being fired from her new position as Jail Administrator in January. The DailyPress reports the deadline to respond to her grievance is close of business today. If the county doesn’t agree to return her to work, a hearing with an arbitrator or local lawyer retained by the county may be scheduled.
The county counsel was in the process of preparing a response to Lavasseur’s grievance earlier in the week. If it is found that her termination was warranted, she could appeal in a federal court. The hearing could also determine that the grievance was frivolous and Lavasseur would then be liable for all costs associated with the hearing.
