Citations for Snowmobile Riders on the Uptick, Oneida County Sees Increase…
The number of citations issued to snowmobilers for operating while intoxicated continues to grow in the area, with eight tickets being issued in Oneida County over last weekend. The Oneida County Sheriff says he hasn’t seen anything like it in his years of service. Sheriff Grady Hartman says he thinks its because theres less snow in parts of the state and those who love to ride are going where the snow is. Over the last decade, there have been anywhere from 50 to 150 snowmobile related injuries reported in Wisconsin, but a new study published in the Wisconsin Medical Journal suggests that number is closer to 600 per year, with a majority of injuries going unreported, either because riders are unaware that by law they should report or because alcohol or illegal riding was involved.
