State of Michigan’s Grey Wolf Population Holding Steady According to Recent Study

According to Department of Natural Resources data from 2022, the Upper Peninsula has a population of roughly 631 wolves this survey. A total of 136 packs have been identified with an average of 4 or 5 per pack. Completing analysis of the data this season was delayed due to wildlife biologists focused on the state’s wolf management plan. The survey shows stability within the state’s grey wolf population, which is good news. To find out more about the states wolf management plan, go to michigan.gov/wolves.
