Man Killed, Another Injured in Snowmobile Crash Where Alcohol Use is Suspected

A snowmobile crash Sunday in Wakefileld Township has claimed the life of a Wisconsin man. The Wakefield post of the Michigan State Police says the 53 year old man was in a group of riders traveling westbound on the trail near Ramsey when the accident occurred. The man, from Berlin, was pronounced dead at the scene, and another 54 year old man with a broken leg was taken to Aspirus Grandview then airlifted to Aspirus in Wausau for treatment. He remains in stable condition. The names of the two men are being held pending notification. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor. Agencies assisting the State Police includes the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan DNR conservation officers, Beacon Ambulance, Michigan State Police Chaplin Corps and the Gogebic County Victim Services Unit.
