A Bayfield County man has died in a snowmobile crash. Timothy Michael DeWitt was riding his snowmobile when he struck a snowbank under the Highway D bridge separating Lake Namakagon and Garden Lake and crashed into the bridge. The DailyPress reports the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources said the crash happened around 5 pm, as DeWitt was snowmobiling alone. He was discovered by a passerby who immediately called 911. DeWitt was pronounced dead at the scene. Timothy DeWitt is described as an avid snomobiler who groomed trails for a Drummond snowmobile club. A memorial service will be held Saturday at Drummond High School. Arrangements are being handled by the Spooner Funeral Home in Spooner.
