Highland Copper Begins Investigation into Mineral Deposits in Ontonagon County

Infill drilling has begun at the copper mining project near the old White Pine Mine in Ontonagon County. Highland Copper officials say that the site may contain upwards of 5 billion pounds of copper. Infill drill or core drilling helps determine how much copper may be available. Highland Copper also has the Copperwood project, just outside of Wakefield. That mine is also expected to contain as much copper as White Pine. The drilling is part of a preliminary economic assessment on combining the two projects, constructing an ore processing center at White Pine that would then serve both areas.
