The largest ski jump in the Western Hemisphere is getting more help to reopen, this time from the state of Michigan. As reported back in July, Copper Peak had received a financial investment of just over $150,000 to make upgrades to the lifts to include racks that would allow mountain bikes to the top easily. Now, the state of Michigan has stepped up with $20 million to be used for renovations. The plan is to open Copper Peak as the only ski-flying hill outside of Europe, and the only hill in the world with a year round surface. The ski jump has been closed since 1994.
