Viking Cruise Lines has decided not to make a stop in Bayfield on its Great Lakes voyages from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Milwaukee in 2023. Three stops were scheduled for the summer. According to NorthernNewsNow, Gordon Ringberg, the mayor of Bayfield said the cruiseline hasn’t given a direct reason as to why its changed its schedule. Ringberg suspects that traveling from Thunderbay all the way back down to Bayfield is a long trip, so the cruiseline will probably just sail on to the North Shore. This past year, the cruise line stopped in Bayfield seven times, allowing passengers to disembark and explore the city. Ringberg said he hopes more cruiselines will decide to make the South Shore a stop on their route.
