Ironwood City Commission Has Finally Updated City’s Zoning Ordinance

After working on it for a number of years, the Ironwood City Commission has updated the city’s Zoning Ordinance via a series of amendments. TheGlobe reports the update has been a long time coming, with public hearings held in December 2021 and July of this year. The updates are changes that included allowing for accessory dwelling units, and allowing for smaller footprint homes on substandard lots. Provisions with regard to medical marijuana, not related to adult use marijuana or commercial applications are also now a part of the ordinance. There are now also provisions for the development of the downtown area. There is also now a process for changing the zoning ordinance when needed. The document will also be lot easier for the public to navigate, with tables and charts to illustrate various section of the ordinance.
