Harbor Commission’s Decision Leaves Marina Owner Out In the Cold

The Bayfield Harbour Commission voted earlier in the month not to renew the lease of BD Marine and have the city of Bayfield run the marina, much to the dismay of the owners, Bill and Doreen Peterson. The Daily Press reports BD’s lease ends in December of next year, and Bill Peterson says the decision eliminates BD’s role at the marina, putting them out of business. He also says he takes issue with the way the committee came to the decision, which did not include the community or the marina’s customers. Peterson says all of his 13 employees would be put out of work if the move is completed. Bayfield Mayor Gordon Ringberg has said that determining the future of the marina is a complex subject and that a final decision hasn’t been worked out.
