Enrollment numbers in community colleges across the country, there are 31 community colleges in Michigan, two of which are in the U.P. 6News reports Gogebic Community College is the smallest in the state. Fall 2022 enrollment was 836 students, which is down 2.5% from the previous year, down 5.5% in credit hours. T he other community college in the U.P., Bay De Noc Community College’s main campus. Based in Escanaba, it has a satellite campus in Iron Mountain. Enrollment for fall 2022 was about 1,900 students, which is on par with last year. According to Jennifer Sabourin, GCC VP of Student Services and Athletics, they’re happy with the numbers for this year, despite being down a bit from last year.
