At their most recent meeting, the Vilas County economic development and tourism committee heard from the Vilas county Economic Development Corporation executive director on broadband development projects in Arbor Vitae, Conover, Cloverland, Lincoln and Presque Isle. The LakelandTimes reports Kathy Schmitz said the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has awarded the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians over $25,000,000 for constructing broadband in the community. She said that if all goes well, 80 to 90% of Vilas County could have broadband service by the end of 2026.
