Bessemer City Council Votes Unanimously on Preliminary Water Project Work

Water system improvements for Bessemer were on the agenda at the last meeting of the Bessemer City Council Monday night. TheGlobe reports the council voted to approve preliminary work on the project, estimated to cost about $2 million. The city would be responsible for about a quarter of the cost, which will come in the form of an EGLE loan, the remainder would be funded by the Aermican Rescue Plan and Michigan’s Lead Service Line Replacement Program. Not only will the project improve water processing for Bessemer, it will also allow for the replacement of any remaining lead water lines in the city. The council voted unanimously for the improvements.
