Bessemer Receives Federal Funding for Electric Buses

U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters have announced the EPA is awarding just over $54,000,000 to schools in Michigan to purchase electric buses. The funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which both lawmakers helped pass last year. The awards are a part of the first $1 billion of a five-year, $5 billion program created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The Clean School Bus program is designed to help districts transion to zero emissions vehicles, produce cleaner air and save school districts money. The Bessemer Area School District is slated to receive $790,000 to fund the purchase of two electric buses.
