Personnel for the city of Ironwood will begin flushing water mains on Sunday night October 2nd through the 7th. Discoloration and changes in water pressure can be expected while mains are being flushed. Flushing of the city system is done twice a year to insure the highest water quality. There are 8 areas of the city that will be affected. Flushing of the system allows removal of sediment from the system and allows crews to inspect the water distribution system and identify areas that might require maintenance or repair, as well as making sure fire hydrants are fully operational.
