Local Paper Switching to Weekly Publication Due to Staffing Issues

The Daily Globe newspaper has announced that Saturday was the last time the daily edition of the newspaper would be printed, as the publication will change to a weekly format starting this week. The Globe reports it will be published on Thursdays and mailed to subscribers and will continue to be available in boxes and from vendors. Publisher Sue Mizell says sudden press room personnel issues have precipitated the change. A lack of press operators made publishing the daily paper impossible. Mizell said she’d been searching for qualified press operators for several years to no avail. The closing of the printing operations of the Globe also affect several other newspapers and other weekly and monthly publications, who have now had to find other options for printing. The change also affects staff, leaving nine members looking for other employment.
