The Iron County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday voted for an increase of an $1.25 an hour for all county employees. According to the Daily Globe, the county finance committee previously recommended that the board increase county employee wages by 4.5%. The committee concluded that a percentage increase would only widen the gap between the highest and lowest paid employees. The $1.25 an hour raise would increase each employee’s yearly salary by about $2,500. The vote to pass the increase was passed in a roll call vote, with 2 commissioners voting no, two more abstaining, those voting yes numbered 8.
