At their meeting last Monday night, the Hurley Board of Education heard a presentation on replacing some of the current playground equipment is now over 30 years old. According to the Globe, Administrator Kevin Genisot said he’d applied for a grant from Enbridge and hoped to hear about it in the next six to eight weeks. The max grant from Enbridge would be $25,000, which would only fund part of the purchase of new equipment from a company called Prime Time. An estimate for five pieces of equipment would cost somewhere between $81 and just over $100,000. Board member Kathy Saari suggested that students be asked which options they liked and Genisot and principal Steve Lombardo said they’d survey the kids.
