Toxic Algae Bloom Found In Lake Near Wakefield

A blue-green algae bloom was discovered at the Sunday Lake Campground beach in Wakefield Monday morning by health department staff while conducting weekly beach monitoring sampling for E. Coli. Samples were collected and tested positive for toxins associated with algae blooms. The public should avoid contact with water where the bloom is visible. Pets should also not be allowed to come in contact with or drink water from pools that appear contaminated. Staff will continue to monitor and resample.
