A memorial service was held yesterday for a firefighter killed in the line of duty while working for the federal Craig Interagency Hotshot Crew out of Colorado. Collin Hagan was from Twin Lakes, near Houghton, and graduated from Jeffers High School in 2013, earned an associated degree in forest technology from Gogebic Community College and a bachelor’s degree in forest management from Michigan Technological University. He was struck by a falling tree while fighting the Big Swamp Wildfire near Oakridge, Oregon last week. Video of Hagan’s service can be found on the National Interagency Fire Center’s Facebook page.
