The Bessemer Planning Commission voted Tuesday to change zoning on city land directly south of the Iron Belle Trail, which then runs south of Bessemer City Hall, which will clear the way for a new housing development. According to the Daily Globe, the vote means the zoning in the area between Clayberg and Moore streets will change from Country Estates to Mixed Density Residential. The vote was taken right after a related public hearing at which no one from the community spoke. The developer said it is hoped that at least one complex of 8-12 units on the site. The plan is to break ground this coming Spring.
