Federal Dollars Coming to Gogebic County

Gogebic, as well as Baraga and Houghton counties, will get part of $9.7 million in infrastructure grants and loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development department. According to RRN, U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan Brandon Fewins said a total of almost $8 million in loans and close to $2 million in grants is being made for the various projects in those three counties. Wakefield will get an almost $3 million loan for improvements to the water system, which will replace 13,900 feet of water main as well as hydrants and valves.
