Department of Natural Resources Officials Visit Ironwood

Ironwood received a visit from officials from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources late last week, touring city parks and other recreation facilities. According to the Daily Globe, Tom Bergman, community development director told the Parks and Rec committee Thursday night that the DNR was here to have a look at the lighted cross country ski trail project at Miners Memorial Heritage Park. The officials toured a number of the sites of projects that the city hopes will benefit from funding by the DNR. The fact that Festival Ironwood and the Emberlight Festival were in full swing was a big plus, allowing the DNR officials to see what great use current recreation facilities receive and how the city could benefit from projects in development.
