Bessemer Says No to Request for Rate Increase

The Bessemer City Council at their meeting on Monday voted against a request for a rate increase from the contractor that provides landscape care services at Hillcrest Cemetary. According to the Daily Globe, Saari’s Lawn Service requested an increase in its fee due to inflation. The request was for an additional $300 per cutting. The council discussed the matter and it was decided that an increase was unwarranted due to the terms of the contract. Mayor Adam Zak said he’d inform the contractor of the council’s decision.
