A routine neighborhood patrol saved the life of a Bayfield resident. The Daily Press reports the resident was working on his car in his garage in the Washburn neighborhood when it caught fire and caused several gas cans to explode. The fire spread quickly from the garage to the house. A deputy on patrol was the first to spot the fire on E. 7th Street. He went into the house and brought a resident to safety and kept him from going back into the house. Firefighters were able to put out the fire, and save some of the resident’s memorabilia.
