A new program designed to maximize safety for those who require constant supervision and their caretakers is coming soon to Gogebic and Iron Counties. The Gogebic County Sheriff’s office has announced that Project Lifesaver will provide small transmitters worn by someone with dementia for example. The transmitter sends out a signal specific to that person and if they go missing, the caregiver can contact their local Project Lifesaver agency and trained responders will head out to look for them. The program is being made possible in part by a donation from the Gogebic Range Health Foundation. The Gogebic Sheriff’s office will be sharing a sign up link in the near future.
