An Ashland woman was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Oconto. Dakota L. Coleman was a passenger in a vehicle that deputies had been looking for after calls about a reckless driver. The car was found on the side of the road with the driver of the vehicle outside it, apparently injured. Coleman approached a deputy with a knife and she refused to comply with the deputy’s orders and the deputy fired. Coleman was hit and died on the scene. Although the Justice Department declined to identify Coleman, Ashland Homeless Help Facebook page organizer Jeanna Olbekson said the victim was Coleman. Olbekson said she’d seen Coleman about two weeks ago, when Coleman said she was planning to leave her abusive boyfriend.
