Sunday, a UTV carrying six passengers crashed in Mercer. The UTV was traveling southwest on Popko Circle West. When the UTV crashed, it turned upside down in a body of water. Four of the occupants were able to escape. Two passengers were trapped under the water. Iron County dispatch contacted first responders who arrived on-scene almost immediately, unfortunately, one passenger, a 39-year-old woman from Mendota, Illinois was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is underway.
