The 15 residents of one of Bayfield’s oldest structures, the Schultz building are having difficulty finding new homes. The fire at 239 Manypenny Avenue burned their apartments to the ground, and although the communities of Bayfield and Red Cliff have been extremely helpful in helping the residents with a place to stay and other personal needs, the bottom line is there may not be anywhere for them to go. The housing market in Bayfield is extremely tight, and with the tourist season looming, finding a place to stay may be near impossible. Although some have been able to stay with family, it’s unknown just how many are still seeking housing.
