The Ontonagon County Cancer Association is the recipient of a $10,000 donation from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan. According to the Daily Globe, the donation is meant to increase access to affordable health care and to improve quality of health care in the area. Chris Maksym, a member of the BCBS of Michigan Board of Directors said that the work that the OCCA does with residents of Ontonagon County with free breast and prostate cancer screening programs and spreading cancer awareness is key to good health.
