This past Saturday night was a big night for the U.P. Honor Flight fundraiser. Dinner and a social hour, as well as speakers, including a welcome by post commander Donna Frello. The fundraiser was the fourth annual put on by the Bessemer VFW post. Honor Flights allow veterans to travel to Washington D.C. all expenses paid to visit national memorials. Bessemer VFW officials say that the evening raised more than $109,000 to support vets from the U.P. travel to Washington. There are three trips planned for this year.
