Northwoods Manufacturing Turns to Area Tradition With Syrup Shack

The Hurley School District will be putting on a demo of their new maple syrup operation located in the school parking lot, today and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. Students will boil sap, filter and bottle the finished product in the new sap shack and there may be syrup available for purchase, according to a press release from the school. High school kids are participating in the Northwoods Manufacturing program, a student run business. Darrin Kimbler of the U of Wisconsin @ Madison Extension Iron county will be at the events to share information about making maple syrup.
