New School Welding Program Popular Before It Even Gets Started

The Lakeland School Board at their last meeting heard reports on the new welding instruction program that will be held next fall. The program is well anticipated, as nearly 125 students are interested in taking welding classes next fall. There is $54,ooo allocated for the program, but the department will also need an additional $67,000 to install a 400 amp electrical panel and drops to each welding booth, as well as an air filtration system that isn’t in the budget for this year. Its been suggested that the district hold off on the purchase of fire doors and use the $73,000 allocated for the welding department.
