Michigan Technological University says for the fifth straight year, its received a record number of applications from prospective undergrad students, almost 9.000 for the fall semester this year, and up 30% from the all time high set in 2019. Applications from women have increased nearly 66%, and applications from underrepresented minorities have doubled. The new College of Computing has increased interest and applications to software engineering and cybersecurity programs are up 40%. Applications from prospective in-state students have doubled since 2015, with much of the interest coming from Grand Rapids, Traverse City, and southeastern regions of Michigan.
