Bessemer Considering Revenue Bond for Concrete Project

The Downtown Development Authority of Bessemer at their last meeting floated the idea of applying for revenue anticipation bond in order to finance having colored concrete laid along the sidewalk from Mill Street to Peck Street now that the U.S. 2 project is complete.. The loan for the nine block stretch would cost just under $350,000. The city must either lay the colored concrete or grass to separate the curb from the sidewalk, for safety issues. The DDA asked City Manager Charly Loper to further investigate the total cost of the loan and interest and the terms.
