The Bessemer township board has voted to approve a health insurance benefits package with an 80/20 split. According to the Daily Globe, the board had previously tabled the issue to have more time to consider the matter. The options for the board were a hard cap on the amount the city would pay or an 80/20 split. With the split plan, employees will know what they’re paying and in the long run, it was the better deal for employees. The health care coverage will cover the township’s three departments of public works employees.
