Bessemer has launched a public fundraising campaign to build the Bessemer Trail head behind their city hall along the Iron Belle Trail. With the expansion into Ramsay, the trail project continues to connect communities in the area. The trailhead will provide parking, easy access to the trail, restroom, water-bottle filling station, a picnic area, a place for children to safely learn how to bicycle, and a fire pit. The city is asking for help from the community by offering sponsorship opportunities and brick sales. Engraved bricks start at $50 and run up to $150. Naming rights of the planned pavilion and bike park as well as other levels of sponsorship are available.
