Wakefield Considering Name Changes for Some Streets in the City

After confusion recently by emergency responders on their way to a call, the city of Wakefield is considering changing some of the names of streets that are similar. According to the Daily Globe, the issue is not a simple one. There is no ordinance for changing the names of streets and changes could inconvenience residents. City Manager Robert Brown said it would take at least 90 days to set up an ordinance for the changes, to have public hearings and a final read before going to a vote. The city council has said they’d like to see a list of street names that are confusing and how many residents are on each of them. Brown said he’d put together a draft of a possible ordinance for the council to to look over.
