The former director of the Wakefield Public Library has been given his accumulated sick and vacation pay. The Globe says the library board held a special meeting last week to decide whether to compensate Joel Laessig approximately $2,500 for 157 hours vacation and five hours of sick time. Library chair Loraine Mussati pointed out that the library has budgeted for his payroll, so it shouldn’t be a hardship. The board voted 3-1 to award Laessig the pay, with Alyssa Ahonen voting against the move, stating that since Laessig resigned he did not fulfill his commitment and therefore shouldn’t receive those benefits.
