Wakefield Approves Animal Ordinance, Gives It Some “Teeth”

At a meeting of the Wakefield Planning commission this past week, after months of conversation and hearing from the public, the City Manager brought four different ordinance proposals regarding how many pets one person could have within city limits. According to the Globe, the commission voted to accept the ordinance amendment with stricter rules about the ownership of animals with no limit to how many. However, law enforcement will have the ability to issue a ticket to an animal owner whenever it is deemed necessary, at the discretion of the officer.
