According to last week’s report COVID case rates have nearly doubled in the U.P. According to the Daily Globe, cases have gone from about 400 per 100,000 to 1000 per in Gogebic and Ontonagon and Baraga counties. Since the last health department update at the end of the year, there have been 277 new cases in Gogebic county, 95 in Ontonagon, 80 in Baraga, 525 in Houghton, and 19 new cases in Keweenaw County. There’s also been one death in Gogebic, one in Ontonagon and 4 in Houghton county.
