Ashland residents are having some issues with trash and recycling pickups as of late and are making their complaints known. The city has said that Republic Services is dealing with a high number of employees out sick on top of some high turnover of drivers and office staff. According to the Daily Times, City Clerk Denise Oliphant says the pandemic has compounded issues and asks the public to be patient and if they’re willing, drop off any accumulation of trash to the self haul transfer station in the industrial park at no charge. Oliphant says new drivers are being trained, but will take some time to get to know specific pickup routes. She also thanks the community for being patient.
