Wakefield Continues On With Water System Improvements

The Wakefield City Council has approved continuance of the design aspect of Phase 1 of its water system improvement project. The council voted to give U.P. Engineers and Architects of Houghton the green light. The city’s improvements to the water systems will cost just under $3 million, and the city applied for a loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development Department, and should receive approval of the loan in a few months with closure on the loan by June of 2022. The engineering firm has requested an invoice to cover some $120,000 in expenses, the council has tabled that subject until City Attorney Ray O’Dea could be polled for some information.
